Why I built Life Figured

I'm Adam. I built the tools I wanted to use myself.

I'm Adam. I started building financial calculators for myself, then decided to share them for free. Now I'm working towards something bigger: making financial understanding accessible to everyone.

I kept asking the same questions.

Can I actually afford this house? What will that salary really look like after tax? How long will it take to hit a savings goal? What happens if I overpay the mortgage?

I could usually find an answer, but it often meant jumping between jargon-heavy websites, building a spreadsheet, or using a calculator on a site that immediately wanted to sell me something.

So I started building the tools I wanted.

Life Figured is my attempt to make those everyday money questions easier to understand. Put in your numbers, explore a few scenarios, and get a clearer picture of what they mean.

The aim isn't to tell you what you should do. Your circumstances are yours, and some decisions deserve professional advice. The aim is to help you understand the numbers well enough to ask better questions and make your own decisions with more context.

01 · Clear

Start with the question.

Useful language first. Financial terminology only when it genuinely helps.

02 · Transparent

Show the assumptions.

Calculators should make it easier to see how the numbers are being worked out.

03 · Independent

Explore, don't prescribe.

Life Figured helps you compare scenarios. It doesn't decide what's suitable for you.

Why it matters

Financial clarity shouldn't be a privilege of birth.

Some people grow up learning about money at home. Others have to work it out as they go. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to understand the decisions that shape their lives, wherever they were born.

My long-term ambition is for Life Figured to contribute to a future where every young person leaves school with practical financial knowledge and confidence. We're not a school programme today — we're starting with free tools, learning from educators and building carefully.

“Figure out what's next, before you decide.”

Still figuring it out too.

I'm building Life Figured gradually, adding tools when I come across a question that feels harder to answer than it should be. Every calculator is free to use and doesn't require an account.

If there's a question you think Life Figured should help answer — or you spot something that doesn't look right — I'd genuinely like to hear it. Send me a message →
